The goal with your jewelry should be to feel like you are shopping in your own closet, bedroom, or dresser when looking for a piece of jewelry to wear. Shoving items in a drawer or box will result in them rarely being used and potentially getting tangled or ruined. You want your jewelry to be displayed so that any time you go to reach for something you can easily see and access all that you have! This makes getting ready so much more fun!
As with many things around the house, 3M™ Hooks are amazing for this. They are particularly great for jewelry because they come in many different sizes. I highly recommend these hooks over any store-bought organizer because you can separate them out to fit your taste, your space and your jewelry. I also love the hooks because it is easy to add more if you get more jewelry instead of having to buy new organizational pieces as your needs change.
Below is a picture of how I hang my jewelry in the empty wall space on the side of my store-bought closet:
I have also hung jewelry very successfully in client homes, including inside of a wardrobe. I used the doors to hang her necklaces and bracelets while using the inside space for the rest of her jewelry.
Of course there are many options sold in stores for earrings. I can’t wear earrings, so I don’t have a large collection, but any holder that allows you to see all of your options and easily get one pair out without affecting the others is a good choice. Be sure to test the stability of a holder before you purchase it. I once hung over 50 pair of dangling earrings on an awesome, chic holder only to have it fall over 5 minutes later and most of the earrings fall off.
For the other little jewelry you might have (rings and other items) small, cute cups or containers you already own can be the perfect solution. Set them out and open with your little jewelry inside so that you can see all of it. This can be perfect for inside of an empty drawer, on a shelf or even on top of a dresser. When you use cute containers you can use your jewelry as a display!
